Packing for your African Safari

BooneThomson

We have a YouTube video on what we pack but here is a quick blog.

The great thing about packing for your safari is you don't need multiple changes of clothes. The camps will wash your clothes each day if you like. Ninety-nine percent of people over pack. I highly recommend only taking a carry on. You can do it.

Clothing to pack:

  • a light but warm jacket. It gets cold on morning game drives.

  • fast drying long pants or leggings.

  • a long sleeve shirt

  • fast drying travel underwear

  • sports bra for the ladies

  • one or two pairs of shorts (tennis shoes and sandals are fine)

  • non cotton t-shirt

Earth tone clothes are recommended.

Other Essentials:

  • A hat

  • sunglasses

  • suntan lotion

  • a buff to cover your face if it is dusty

Optional items

  • binoculars

  • camera

  • laptop or iPad

  • bugspray (there is bugspray in your tent)

  • a headlamp

  • a journal

  • charging bank
