Do I Need Travel Insurance?

BooneThomson

The short answer is yes. At a minimum, you need to have a policy that covers you for emergency medical treatment and evacuation. I also recommend covering the cost of your trip. We never think something will happen to us. An African safari is expensive. Think of how bad you would feel if you lost all that money and could not go on your safari.

A site I use is Squaremouth.com. Enter your travel dates and cost of your safari and the site will compare rates from different insurance companies. I compared rates for a safari that cost $8,000. Policies ranged from $250 to $790. $250 is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Purchase the policy when you pay your deposit.

No worries if this hippo injures me, I have medical and emergency evacuation insurance!
